VIII equal U15.
These fees also apply to
premier leagues run through Eastern New York, as well.
Underdome rates are
comparable, based on the length of games.
Game fees for all Scarsdale
Youth Soccer games are $30.
Generally, referees are
assigned two or three consecutive games at a field.
Fees for adult leagues are considerably
higher for both the center referee and the ARs.
Youth tournament fees are in
line with the Eastern NY State fees above, based on the length of the game. Tournament games are normally of much
shorter duration and referees officiate more games during the course of the
day.
I thought it would be helpful if you understood
just how and when members of the WSRO get paid.
When you accept tournament assignments, the WSRO
will issue the individual checks paid. Depending upon the timing of the event,
you will either be mailed the check or receive it at out at our regular
meetings in Stepinac High School. For those of you planning to accept
assignments to referee WYSL games
When you undertake assignments for the weekend
travel league, WYSL, they will issue individual referee checks several times
throughout the season and these will be distributed at our meetings in
Stepinac.
In order for the WYSL to initiate a check, you must
enter online your game reports. Do it immediately.
Let's review your pre-game responsibilities which
includes checking in each of the teams scheduled to play. You have already been
told to arrive at least 1/2 hour prior to kick-off which gives you plenty
of time to check field conditions, markings on the field, goal nets, goal
anchors, etc.
Next, ask each team to line up and have the coach
hand you the WYSL Official Team Lineup as well as give each of his/her players
their WYSL ID cards. The left side of the Lineup sheet contains a list of the
player's names and their uniform #s plus the date of the game, the location,
age group, name of team and most important, the coach's signature. All U9-10
teams also have designated Sporting Directors who must also print and sign
their names to the lower left side of the lineup. Now inspect the players for
improper equipment: jewelry (not
allowed), hard unwrapped casts, sharp objects in the hair and quickly make sure
their jersey #s matches what the coach placed on the lineup sheet. This process
should not take more than 2 minutes per team and when completed, you should
have possession of all the player ID cards. Store the ID cards and lineup
sheets in your referee bag and call team captains out to the middle of the
field for the toss of the coin. Remember, there may be several games scheduled
for that field so it's very important to get started at the
designated time. Some coaches will ask for a delay because their best
player is lost. If they have 7 players(6 for u-9/10/11) get the game going.
Whoops, don't forget to give each coach or team
captains a flag and request them to secure volunteers to run the lines. Please
remind those volunteers to only indicate out of bounds and not direction. Don't
worry, once the game begins they'll indicate direction anyway....just ignore
that and make your own decisions.
Once the game ends
please remember to first get your flags and return the team's ID cards to their
respective coaches after you have watched the two teams shake hands. If you
have completed your assignment take the coaches lineups, go home, and complete
the report online.
In the event it was necessary to card
a coach please use the game report section to provide your comments as to
what the coach did.
P.S. You must keep the ID cards of any ejected
player or coach and mail them to the WYSL office....address located at the
bottom of the lineup sheet.
P.S. Keep a record of your assignments....date,
field, age group, teams.....in the event
you
don't get the correct amount of money from the League. Should that happen
you will
be expected to write to them at the end of the season with the details.
Most important, HAVE FUN OUT THERE.
Yours in Soccer,
Bruce Mandel, Assignor for WYSL
