EXPLANATION AND GUIDELINES FOR SPORTSMANSHIP
FOR WYSL REPORTS
In
order to simplify the rating system, the sporting committee indented determined
that every team enters the field at the start of a match at zero (can be called
neutral, normal or average) and points are added or minus-ed from there,
depending upon exhibited behavior.
Sporting behavior on the field would be rated by the referee as follows:
Good sporting ( above the average) behavior rates 1 point,
Excellent sporting behavior rates 2
Poor sporting behavior rates minus 1,
Totally Unacceptable sporting behavior rates minus 2.
For example:
If a team during a match is behaving in the realm a normal WYSL game behavior
and the coach or parent from the side lines, shows some above normal positive
sporting behavior towards an opposing team by: complimenting their effort in
some way, they have done something above the norm and could be judged as
earning a good rating or positive 1 rating for the game.
An contrary, if a coach, parent or player exhibits some negative sporting
behavior by: kicking the ball away from an opposing player after a foul has
been called, they may be on there way to receiving a minus 1 rating for the
match.
