Each referee over the age of eighteen must go through the Risk Management procedure.

Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association's risk management initiative is more than just background checks
for coaches, referees and volunteers. The principal aim is to provide a reasonable level of safety and security
for our 130,000 players while they are participating in soccer activities.
Referees are required to complete an online Volunteer Disclosure Form biennially with this information being
used to conduct a background check. The results of the background check are reviewed at the state level to
assure that the ENYYSA policy is administered fairly and consistently across the state and that a referee's
private information is kept confidential.
It is important to note that while an individual referee may be asked to explain an issue in their background,
it does not mean the/she will be denied officiating privileges. It simply means that the committee needs more
information. Referees may appeal a negative decision.
How to provide the information:
- Go to the risk management area on the ENYYSA website
